The Story
The Heartbound Reliquary
No one remembers who made the first heart like this. Only that it was never meant to be empty.
The markings on the lid echo an older language—symbols used to ask questions that should not be spoken carelessly. Yes and no sit side by side, as if the answer was never the point. Those who kept the box learned quickly: it does not respond to curiosity. It responds to intention.
Inside, skeletal hands form a heart, locked in a shape that cannot loosen its grip. Bone, after all, outlasts oath and flesh alike. Whatever is placed within is said to remain bound—memories refusing to fade, love that will not release, grief that insists on being remembered.
Some say the box was meant to protect what it holds. Others say it was meant to contain it.
Left closed, it waits. Opened too often, it remembers.
